About ISC2 Ottawa Chapter
Our chapter provides members with a casual forum in which to exchange knowledge and ideas, develop their leadership and professional skills, and advance information systems security. Our objective is to hold events that are technically focused and which involve experiential and knowledge-based activities where something useful and tangible is learned every time.
We provide a friendly and welcoming environment that makes it easy for people who have shared interests to learn something, meet like-minded people, and have fun.
Membership
Our members consist of both (ISC)² International members as well as those who simply have an interest in the information security field. Our chapter is focused on sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas among security professionals from the National Capital Region.
Ultimately, we want to advance the field of information security by educating practitioners and the public at large on how to protect and defend against security threats. To learn more about the benefits of becoming a chapter member, visit our Membership page.
Learn About MembershipMeetings
Our online meetings take place on the second Tuesday of every month while in-person meetings are quarterly. See Events for more information.
The board is reviewing the local membership/event fee structure, and once it has been finalized it will be posted on the Membership page.
If you are interested in the field of information or software security, then join our Chapter and engage with other experts in the field. You do not need to be an (ISC)² International member.
See EventsAnnual General Meeting (AGM)
Our annual general meeting is held every November. In addition to having a presenter, the chapter board takes the time to provide the membership with its annual general report, particularly its financial health.
Additionally, should there be a requirement to fill any of the board positions — e.g., a board member term has ended or a member is retiring — then an election is held. A description of all of the board member positions can be found in Section 5 of the Chapter Bylaws. Once the AGM business is concluded, the regular event presentation is held.
