ITSG-33. SA&A, and Cloud Services: Tales from the Trenches

Treasury Board Secretariat has recently announced the Government of Canada’s cloud strategy. This move to adopt cloud services, both private and public, is accompanied by recommendations to perform a Security Assessment & Accreditation process and attain Authority to Operate.  This presentation will explore the Cloud First goal, and how SA&A can be successfully completed. 

 

Dr. Lawrence Dobranski, P.Eng., CISSP-ISSAP, ISSMP

Dr. Lawrence Dobranski P.Eng., CISSP, PMP heads up service delivery at Catalone IT Security Inc, a system engineering firm specializing in cyber security. He recently served as the University of Saskatchewan’s Director of ICT Security, Access & Compliance, a position he held for just under 5 years.  Before joining the U of S, he worked as a consultant, led the product security function in Nortel’s Office of the CTO, and worked for the Communications Security Establishment, all in information security roles.  His doctorate looked at the Risk that BYOD presents to enterprises.  He also holds an MBA in Information Security Management.  He has worked in Cyber Security for over 30 years. 

Besides his consulting work, Lawrence teaches part time in the System and Computer Engineering Department at Carleton University.  In addition he is currently serving as the Chief Information and Technology Officer for the Radio Amateurs of Canada, the national organization of Canadian Amateur Radio Operators.  He holds radio amateur call signs VA5LD/VE3LGD.
