Capture the Flag

This event is an additional evening on our 2017 calendar and will take place on a Wednesday (October the 4th) and will start a bit earlier (*5:00 registration and a 5:30 start time) and we may run as late as 09:30.

This is a hands-on participation event (though spectators are welcome)

  • It is geared towards auditors, consultants, managers and other non-technical folk who work in IT Sec.
  • There will be hand-outs, PowerPoint slides, and mentors to help.
  • It's a learning event! You only need to be willing to learn a few Linux commands.
  • It is not (not!) for experienced ninja hacker dudes/dudettes!
  • If you are unsure if this event is right for you, follow this link. You will see our prerequisites for CAMS Non-Technical events. http://hackingaway.org/prerequisites/

All you need to bring is a laptop with a wired ethernet connection. (Built-in ethernet port or USB-to-RJ45 adapter).

All the activity will be on a physical wired network. Up to 28 participants will get their own LAN drop. Your laptop must have a RDP client software. (Built-in on Window 7+, free download on Mac.)

Detailed instructions are available at: http://hackingaway.org/own-laptop/

*Please note that the presenter has asked that the October 4th event be limited to those certification holding or professional members. Students wishing to try a CTF should register with B-Sides which is being held this year October 5th and 6th (the B-Sides CTF is a contest with prizes for the winning teams)

Presenter
